Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) announced yesterday the schedule for the first games of its 2009 season.
For its first game, the Bay Area based FC Gold Pride will receive the international star Kristine Lilly and the Boston Breakers at Buck Shaw Stadium (Santa Clara University) on Sunday, April 1st, 2009. The time of the game is still to be determined.
"Soccer is a globally celebrated sport and we are excited to bring a piece of that to the Bay Area," said Ilisa Kessler, General Manager of FC Gold Pride. "Our staff is working hard to put together a team and an organization that the community can be proud of. We hope that fans will join us on Opening Day at Buck Shaw Stadium to be a part of something truly special."
We will publish the complete schedule of the 2009 season as soon as it is announced by WPS.
